Many thanks to Willie MacRobbie (15th September) and Roddy Maclean (13th October) who both delivered fascinating talks to the Applecross Historical Society this autumn.
Coming up, the legendary Roddy 'Butcher' MacLennan brings us tales (or even tails?) from the Butcher's van, regaling us with just some of the highlights of his family's many years coming over the Bealach - 10th November 2011, at 7.30pm, in Applecross Village Hall. Contact the Heritage Centre for further details.

Maelrubha Day, Saturday 27th August
This Saturday, modern-day pilgrims will follow the old coastal road, now a stunning walking path, over the hill from Sand to Clachan Church in Applecross. The present Clachan Church, built in 1817, is believed to stand very close to the site of the monastery founded by Applecross's saint, Maelrubha. 1369 years after he was born in Ireland, there'll be a range of events to commemorate this incredible man's influence on the history and culture of the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Heritage walks, children's treasure hunt, an ecumenical songs of praise in the church, a talk on the life and legacy of the saint ... something for everyone!
Shuttle bus from Applecross Heritage Centre to Sand leaves at 10.30am.
